Yoga is for every BODY.
If you’ve been around me long enough or you’re a regular follower of mine on social media, you’ve probably heard me say this before. And I’ll keep saying it over and over because I believe it to be true and I want you to believe it, too.
I love working with people who have never thought they would practice yoga. I love it because I believe that everyone is capable of increasing movement in their life. Everyone is in need of decreased stress in their life. And there’s not a single soul that is not in need of some more deep breathing in their life.
You see. Yoga is for every BODY. If you’re not convinced, let me explain further.
- Have physical limitations or suffer from specific injuries. I will create a sequence that not only permits you to practice to your capacities, but will also serve as corrective exercise to relieve pain, increase strength and range of motion, and improve overall physical comfort.
- Have never tried yoga and it scares you. I will be there with you, every step of the way. I will encourage you when you’re feeling challenged. I will validate your feelings when you’re feeling defeated. No one is watching - it’s just you and I. We might even have some laughs!
- Have a lot of questions. I will answer your many questions, even if they come up mid-pose in the middle of your practice. You won’t have to wait until the yoga class is over. I truly believe that learning is most effective when questions are explored as they come up.
- Believe that yoga isn’t for you.If you’re “too big”, “too old”, “too stiff”, “too busy”, “not able to sit still”, “not able to concentrate”, etc. Pardon my bluntness, but you’re wrong. It’s like saying that you’re too hungry to eat or too dirty to shower. I have clients who are obese, others who are in their eighties, some that can’t touch their knees, CEO type-A clients that work 70 hours a week, students who are notorious busy bodies and even some with diagnosed ADD/ADHD. Heck, I even had a client who was in her 70’s, missing a leg, and overweight. Remember, yoga is for every BODY!
