Seedy Chocolate Bites

I’ve been playing around with this creation for a few months. I was inspired to blog about it today because I had the privilege of spending the evening with an awesome group of Girl Guides talking about nutrition and yoga. We talked about eating foods that are delicious and ways to make they more nutritious. We chatted about healthy fats to balance their hormones and make their skin, hair, and nails lustrous. We discussed ways of eating fibre rich foods to keep the digestive system running smoothly… just, not too many of these balls in one sitting if you’re not used to fibre otherwise it’ll make you farty!

Every girl needs a guilt-free and healthy source of chocolate!

Serves: 1 very hungry chocolate monster! Approximately 12 chocolate bites.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup packed pitted Medjool dates (12-13 large)
  • 1/4 cup hulled hemp seed
  • 1/4 cup chia seed
  • 1/4 cup sesame seed
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine grain sea salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut (optional)
  • Sprits of lemon juice

Instructions:

Place dates in food processor and process into a paste. Add the seeds and process. Finally, add the remainder of ingredients and process into a thick paste. Make sure to scrape the sides down. The paste is ready when it forms a large thick chunk. Roll the paste into bite-sized balls. Eat immediately or store in the refrigerator (or the freezer) to enjoy later when the chocolate craving attacks!
